Introducing Zapier integration for myPaymail

Meet the new feature of myPaymail: starting from today, you can connect your paymails to all the other applications available on the Zapier platform!

Our goal is to make tracking payments very easy, independently of the wallet that you use to manage your funds. So far, you’ve been able to track peer-to-peer payments sent to you using our paymail inbox. As part of our new upgrade, myPaymail will track all payments sent to you, including the ones broadcasted to the network and not sent directly to you in a peer-to-peer fashion. This way, you can use myPaymail to keep track of all your payments from different wallets.

But… there’s something that’s been missing all this time. Easy tracking of incoming payments from different platform has been enabled by companies such as IFTTT or Zapier. This functionality has been available to services such as Stripe or Paypal for a long time. So we thought, why can’t you do the same with paymails? Meet our new Zapier integration!

Use cases

Our Zapier integration allows you to pass information to other applications when you receive a payment on a paymail that you own. All use cases come down to:

When I receive a payment on paymail <X>, then <take an action on this application connected to Zapier>

Some examples are:

  • When I receive a payment, store its information on Google Sheets.
  • When I receive a payment, send an email using Gmail.
  • When I receive a payment, notify me on Slack.

Our integration gives you not only information about the sender, but also the amount received in many different currencies, along with the exchange rate used to make the conversions. Essentially, you can access the same information that you see in your paymail inbox, but from other applications.

How does it work? In the next subsections, we will run through what we believe will be a popular use case: connecting myPaymail to Google Sheets.

Working example: track payments in Google Sheets

Enable your paymail Zapier integration

You’ll need to create a Zapier account if you don’t have one. Simply go to Zapier, and click on the “Sign Up” button. After creating a Zapier account, log in into myPaymail.

Find the paymail that you want to monitor and click the edit button, then select “Enable Zapier integration”:

Open the link displayed and click on “Accept Invite & Build a Zap”:

When you’re done, simply save your changes:

That’s all you need to do on the myPaymail platform. The next steps will show you how to create a “Zap” on the Zapier platform.

Create a Google Sheet

Login to your Google account and create a new spreadsheet to track your payments. The headers that you define at this point will become available in Zapier later on.

Create a new Zap

Go to Zapier and click on “Zaps” on the menu on the left:

Then, click on “Create Zap”:

Find the myPaymail application and click on the icon shown:

Then, click “CONTINUE”:

At this point, you’ll need to log in into myPaymail. Click on “+ Add a New Account”:

On the new Window, approve myPaymail to access your MoneyButton account information:

Go back to the previous page, select the account and click “CONTINUE”. In the new step, type the Paymail handle that you want to use (make sure that you’ve enabled the Zapier Integration feature) and click “CONTINUE”:

Next, click “Test trigger”:

You should see example data. If that’s not the case, just make a small payment to your desired Paymail handle.

Next, click “CONTINUE”. On the “Do this…” box, find Google Sheets and click on the icon:

Click on “Create Spreadsheet Row”:

Click “CONTINUE”:

Click on “+ Add a New Account” and proceed to login in to your Google account, and when you’re done click “CONTINUE”:

Select the spreadsheet that will be modified when receiving payments (“Test” in our example). The columns of the spreadsheet will automatically appear in the Zapier interface. Map each of them to your preferred payment fields:

Click on “CONTINUE” and then click on the “TEST & CONTINUE” button to make sure the integration works as expected:

If the test was successful, click on “TURN ON ZAP”:

Congratulations! You have now set up a Zap. Every time you receive a payment, Zapier will automatically create a new row in your spreadsheet.
